SSL VPN Beta - Testing the Client Software

Testing the client software

There are two ways to download and install the VPN client software.

Web interface: If you connect to the web VPN interface and install through it, the client software will be automatically installed and automatically prepared for campus use on a Mac or Windows system.

CITES recommends this method for Mac and most Windows users because the client software will be ready for use immediately.

Direct download: If you download the installation file directly from this server, you can take the installation file you've downloaded to any other machine. However, the client software you download will not be automatically prepared for campus access.

64-bit Vista users must use the direct download method, and Linux users will find the direct download method faster since the web interface does not preconfigure the Linux software client and you would need to complete the same post-download configuration process in both cases.

Web interface (preconfigured)

Choose your operating system below:

Mac OS X

Linux

Most Windows systems (except Vista 64-bit)

Direct download (not preconfigured)

Choose your operating system below:

Mac OS X

Linux

Most Windows systems (except Vista 64-bit)

Windows Vista 64-bit

Some handheld clients are also available. See the Downloads directory for the available options.

Telling us what you've found

To report bugs or describe your experiences, send mail to: cites-vpn@listserv.illinois.edu.

To discuss the software clients with the CITES development team and other campus users, visit Testing issues and findings (Aventail client software) on the CITES Wiki.

We may send email directly to people who have logged in to the Aventail system, asking them to rate their experiences.

Later on in the development process, we'll also make a survey available to Aventail VPN users.
